Fresh Coat Painters Closes Out Year with 34% Systemwide Increase in Commercial Sales and Several New Additions to its National Account Portfolio

One of the country's largest and fastest-growing painting franchises is making significant strides toward achieving its goal of crossing the 200-unit mark.

Fresh Coat Painters, the residential and commercial painting franchise, is closing out 2022 with a lot to celebrate. This year, the franchise grew its commercial business system-wide by 34% year-over-year, welcomed several new franchise owners across the country and saw a whopping 170% increase in national accounts. Now, the Fresh Coat team is riding that wave of momentum with a continued focus on investing in future growth.

“We put significant effort into growing the commercial segment in both 2021 and 2022,” said  Fresh Coat President Tara Riley. “We know there’s tremendous opportunity here, and we’ve continued to invest in our teams, build relationships and increase training for our franchise owners. These are all reasons why the commercial segment has really grown for us, especially as companies have been reinvesting in their physical spaces following the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Fresh Coat gives entrepreneurs an exciting opportunity to leverage the brand’s proven and low-cost business model to achieve success in the thriving painting industry. Franchisees don’t need a brick-and-mortar facility, which keeps overhead costs down, and they can also tap into diverse revenue streams, including residential, commercial and national accounts, without any extra fees. Overall, franchisees don’t need to be painting experts or focused on reinventing the wheel — the team provides the business model, trusted brand name and support so they can be successful with Fresh Coat.

In addition to residential and commercial clients, Fresh Coat has also spent the past year building out its portfolio of national accounts. This includes relationships with multiple facility management companies, property management companies, national contracting companies, and painting suppliers like PPG and Sherwin-Williams. These relationships help bring in business that local franchisees don’t have to go out to find on their own.

For example, this year saw Fresh Coat partner with ProCoat, a provider of sustainable coating solutions for acoustical ceilings and fixture restorations.  “The value we bring to these companies is our national presence and the ability to work with a single point of contact on large multi-location projects. They no longer need to go find and manage painters in every market — they can just call Fresh Coat,” said Riley. “For the Fresh Coat franchisees, these accounts provide business in their inbox. We build the relationships, bid on the plans and work with these companies and our owners to determine what their pricing should be. Franchisees can just focus their energy on completing profitable projects.”

Another important milestone for the Fresh Coat brand this year, Riley says, was the addition of seven E-2 Visa franchisee candidates to the system — the largest number in the brand’s history. “People who are coming to this country to open a business are drawn to Fresh Coat because we have experience working with E-2 Visa candidates and it’s a business model that is easy to understand,” said Riley. “ Our high level of support is important for E-2 candidates as they make the transition to their new life here in the US”.”

With its proven business model and robust support infrastructure, Fresh Coat attracts a uniquely diverse group of franchisees, including veterans, women and those from underrepresented communities, Riley says. Owners come from all types of industries and backgrounds, whether it be tech, consulting, teaching, manufacturing, construction, home improvement or working for the state.

Looking ahead to 2023, Riley says the Fresh Coat team is gearing up for aggressive growth, with plans to hit 200 units by the end of the year.

“We are very bullish on growth and have made heavy investments in technology, leadership and support to ensure our franchisees can scale their business,” said Riley. “Even with the concerns about headwinds in the economy, we are banking on continued growth in the commercial segment, and we expect growth on the residential side as well. We continue to focus on franchise development and expect to pass the 200 mark by the end of the year. We know that means we have to find the right franchisees, help them grow profitable businesses and continue to expand our footprint.”

The total investment required to start a Fresh Coat franchise ranges from $53,850 to $76,750, including the $44,900 franchise fee. For more information, visit https://freshcoatfranchise.com/.
