Great Clips Veterans Day Promotion to Honors Military Members and Veterans With Free Haircuts

Veterans and active duty military members can go into any Great Clips salon on November 11 and receive a free haircut.

Hair salon franchise brand Great Clips is ready to honor current and former members of the U.S. military on Veterans Day with free haircuts for the seventh year in a row.

The brand will provide free haircuts to military members and veterans on Monday, November 11. Veterans and active military members who don’t need a haircut on Veterans Day can stop by a Great Clips salon on Monday and pick up a free haircut card to redeem at any U.S. salon through December 31.

Great Clips provides more than 200,000 free haircuts every year to both active and retired military members on Veterans Day. That has come out to more than 1.3 million complimentary haircuts valued at more than $12 million.

“We at Great Clips realize there is no amount of thanks great enough to give to the men and women who have served our country,” Great Clips President Rob Goggins said. “Providing them with a great haircut is a simple, yet meaningful, way we can show appreciation for all that our veterans and active servicemen and women have done for us.”

Non-military members can also participate. When they go into a Great Clips salon and pay for a haircut on Veterans Day, they can receive a free haircut card to give to a veteran, who can redeem the card through December 31.

The brand’s gratitude for veterans is not limited to Veterans Day. The Great Clips leadership team and franchisees support organizations that provide care for active and retired military members and their families, including Operation: Fishing Freedom and Operation Second Chance.

Veterans have always been an important part of the Great Clips community,” Goggins said. “We’re proud to support those who have sacrificed for our freedom through the financial support of veterans organizations, our Veterans Day promotion and other veteran efforts.”

Great Clips franchisee and United States Marine Corps veteran Arthur Grimaldi, who served in the military for 32 years, will participate in the promotion. He and his wife initially heard about the Great Clips franchising opportunity through other franchisees they met on a Mediterranean cruise in 2007. In 2011, after Grimaldi had retired from the military, he and his wife finally decided to become franchisees with Great Clips. They even received a $5,000 discount on the franchise fee due to Grimaldi’s veteran status.

Today, the Grimaldis own and operate three Great Clips franchised salons in Florida’s Clay County, which is home to the city of Jacksonville. They offer military discounts throughout the year to active duty members, members of the reserves and military retirees.

“Jacksonville has a number of military bases in the area, so there is a heavy veteran and military population,” Grimaldi said. “We make sure that we bring veterans in and thank them for their service, especially Vietnam veterans who did not get the welcome home they deserved. We make sure we thank them, give them a great haircut and invite them back.”

And no Veterans Day coupon goes to waste.

“If we have any coupons leftover after Veterans Day, we’ll go to the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) office or to one of the military bases and give the cards to the folks in charge of those facilities,” Grimaldi said.

For Great Clips and Grimaldi alike, it is important to show appreciation to military veterans.

“We want to make sure we’re recognizing people for their service,” Grimaldi said. “They’re going out there and putting their lives on the line for us and for our protection and freedom. We want to make sure we let them know we appreciate them.”
