Strong Growth Potential for Franchisees Inspires Great Clips to Eye Development in New England and New York

Signing on to become a franchisee in those target development markets creates a unique opportunity for business owners by allowing them to capitalize on Great Clips’ brand name and proven model in a region primed for growth.

When franchise brands achieve the level of growth and recognition that Great Clips has, it’s rare to find strong growth opportunities in top tier markets. But for Pete Noury, a Great Clips franchisee since 2009, things are continuing to heat up in terms of the growth and opportunity available for his business in the Northeast.

“It has been busy because we are trying to grow aggressively. There's a lot of opportunity in this area and we are trying to take advantage of it,” said Noury. “Great Clips, Inc. has been very supportive in assisting us with the growth we want.”

Noury already owns 10 Great Clips locations throughout the Northeast, with three in Massachusetts and seven in New Hampshire. And with store number 11 on the horizon in Merrimack, New Hampshire, he has seen first-hand just how much opportunity there is for the brand to grow in the region.

“People in the Northeast seem to move at a faster pace than other parts of the country,” said Noury. “Great Clips’ online check-in and attention to customer service provides efficiency I believe people in the Northeast appreciate. We plan to continue to grow in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire.”

Jonathan Steward, Senior Director of Operations for Great Clips, says that the opportunities in the Northeast are particularly exciting because it provides business owners with the chance to join an established brand like Great Clips in wide open development markets that are primed for growth. That’s not an opportunity that traditionally presents itself in the franchising industry, especially with a brand of Great Clips’ size and caliber.

“Great Clips has been around for a while and is a mature system, but there are markets and opportunities in the Northeast where we have the advantages of being a strong, recognizable brand without being too full yet,” said Steward. “We are looking to add 100 locations across New York State and 150 locations across New England in the future, and those numbers could continue to rise depending on population growth over time.”

In addition to boasting a strong presence across the U.S. – including the Northeast through successful locations in the region – Steward notes that there are territories available in a number of the area’s prime markets.

“We have lots of opportunity throughout New York State, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, and we are actively looking for more qualified franchisees in southern Boston, Albany and Long Island,” said Steward. “And even where we have franchisees already up and running, we are still growing and are nowhere close to reaching a point where we’re filled out to capacity.”

With almost 4,300 open units across the United States and Canada, not to mention 13 years of same store growth, the chance to build on that momentum in the Northeast is an attractive one for aspiring entrepreneurs.

“The business model is very solid and the support from corporate is extraordinary, from the initial training through ongoing operations,” said Noury. “The Northeast currently has a lot of opportunity for selecting great locations because it’s a relatively new market to Great Clips, putting franchisees in a strong position to succeed.”
