What do you want us to know?Lucky Lee: I started as an X-ray tech in a hospital and then transitioned to work in an oil refinery, but I always felt like something was missing. I tried to fill that gap by volunteering when I could, but the long shifts didn’t leave much time. Eventually, I knew I wanted something that would let me connect with people and contribute to the community. I had dabbled in entrepreneurship — rental properties, an e-commerce business — but I was still looking for the right long-term fit.1851: What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?Lee: I’ve always liked being in control of my schedule and work. Once I found a mentor in real estate, everything clicked. I knew I wanted the same structure and support in my next venture, which led me to hire a franchise consultant. They did personality assessments, walked me through the process and helped me identify that franchising could give me both the autonomy and purpose I was looking for.1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?Lee: Initially, I thought of franchising as just a brand name — but now I see it as a full support system.
