HomeTeam Inspection Service Wraps Up Q1 with Six New Franchise Signings, Three Openings and Three Transfers
The home inspection brand is breaking into several new markets, including Jackson, Michigan; NE Orlando, Florida; W Orlando, Florida; Fayetteville, Arkansas; Stockton, California; SW Houston, Texas; S Richmond, Virginia; Jacksonville, North Carolina; and San Antonio, Texas.
Cincinnati, Ohio — HomeTeam Inspection Service, the 200-plus-unit home inspection concept, is kicking off its 30th year of franchising with impressive growth and momentum. In Q1 of 2023, the HomeTeam franchise opened three new territories, awarded six new territories and completed three transfers.
“The reason for this progress is that even though we’ve been franchising for 30 years, we began a refocus in 2015,” said Adam Long, president of HomeTeam. “We were interested in strengthening and enlarging the company, and we focused intently on bringing new franchise owners into an even stronger model.”
Since 1992, HomeTeam has built a reputation for providing professional, reliable, efficient and accurate inspections on both residential and commercial property, including on electrical and plumbing systems, roofing, structural, insulation and ventilation, interior, heating and cooling, and much more. With the housing market booming, clients and real estate agents across the country are looking for trusted, professional home inspectors, and HomeTeam has established itself as the leading home inspection brand — both for the consumer and for prospective franchise owners.
The territories HomeTeam will enter following this quarter’s new signings and openings include: Jackson, Michigan; NE Orlando, Florida; W Orlando, Florida; Fayetteville, Arkansas; Stockton, California; SW Houston, Texas; S Richmond, Virginia; Jacksonville, North Carolina; and San Antonio, Texas.
The three transfers were for HomeTeam territories in Ocala, Florida; Charleston, South Carolina; and Des Moines, Iowa. Long says this ability for existing franchisees to easily sell to new franchisees is a key differentiator of the HomeTeam business model.
“Each year, we usually transfer several existing franchise locations to someone new,” said Long. “That’s a healthy amount of turnover, and some of those owners have been with us for 20 or more years. I love helping them actually retire, receive value for their business, and enjoy the financial benefits of selling their successful franchise.”
To keep up with all this growth and to ensure incoming franchise owners have everything they need to thrive, the HomeTeam brand has continued to build out its support infrastructure behind the scenes, as well. Not only has the team expanded its franchise development department, but they’ve also moved much of their franchisee training process onto a new portal called HomeTeam University.
“We have built a much more proprietary, intentional approach to training and onboarding,” said Long. “Our franchisees now have access to a HomeTeam online portal which they can use as a resource to access best practices, training videos and more. The idea is to create an educational process through various modules. You can take small bites and dive deeper into any topic you want to learn about. Once you've completed the coursework, it remains available.”
With all of this support at their fingertips, HomeTeam franchise owners don’t need to be certified home inspectors prior to working with the brand. Instead, they can feel confident knowing they have everything they need to become certified, launch the franchise and run a successful business in the booming home inspection space.
But while HomeTeam is welcoming new franchise owners across the country, Long says the brand is still taking a very calculated approach to expansion. “We like what we call a controlled growth process,” said Long. “We don’t want to grow too fast. One of the biggest mistakes you can make as a franchisor is selling a franchise to anybody who’s willing to write a check. Then you have a lot of failures. We’re very particular about who we bring on. We are excited about the qualified and passionate franchise owners who are helping us expand this year and beyond.”
Looking ahead, Long predicts that HomeTeam will award around 20 territories by the end of the year. The brand has identified several target markets primed for growth, including Northern Virginia; Greater Phoenix, San Antonio, Texas; and Atlanta, Georgia.
The initial investment range to open a HomeTeam Inspection franchise is $60,100 to $86,800. For more information, visit https://www.hometeamfranchise.com/.
