Houston Chronicle: Memorial-local Uses Motherly Instincts for Drivers Education Facility

Cindy Wilson takes on the role of manager of SafeWay Driving and explains personal ties to the brand

Cindy Wilson was recently named manager at SafeWay Driving in Memorial. As a mom of four kids, three of which went to SafeWay Driving in Memorial, she is able to approach the business with a mom's perpective.

"I can approach the job from a different perspective because I am a mom and I can appreciate the process. They are so excited to get their license, but it is also a stressful time for both of them and the parents. I am excited to be able to help work through that. My goal is to make this a very comfortable process for both kids and parents," Wilson told the Houston Chronicle reporter.

Students at SafeWay start with a 32-hour online course, and once they pass the test, they begin scheduling their in-car sessions.

"One thing in hindsight as a mom that I can say is that parents spend so much money on activities such as sports and cheer leading, but that ends eventually, and their child will be driving their whole lives. This is an investment. Our goal is to keep them safe and to save lives. The hours behind the wheel will make them a better driver," Wilson told the reporter.

Ann Littmann, similar to Wilson, has an extensive background with SafeWay Driving. Littmann started with the company as an intern and was recently named the CEO.

"I met the former CEO through the Aggie network and he created a role specifically for me. The passion that he had for saving lives was infectious; I knew that I could not, not be a part of SafeWay," Littmann told the reporter. "Being involved through all the business transitions has just been the best work experience there is."
