How McDonald’s Is Slimming Down its Happy Meals

The fast food giant is trying to eliminate the number of calories, sodium and saturated fat that children are eating in its restaurants.

Health and nutrition are increasingly top of mind for consumers across the globe. That’s why McDonald’s is making an effort to reduce the amount of calories, sodium and saturated fat that children are eating. According to Fox Business, the chain announced that it’s eliminating cheeseburgers and chocolate milk from its Happy Meals.

In addition to eliminating these products from Happy Meals, McDonald’s announced that it wants all of its Happy Meals to have 600 calories or less, and less than 650 milligrams of sodium. The brand also wants 10 percent of meals’ calories to come from saturated fat and added sugar. However, even though these items will no longer officially be on the menu, parents can still ask for them.
