By JORDAN BRANDES Last Thursday the International Franchise Association applauded the efforts by the U.S. government for introducing the American Job Protection Act. The new legislation would repeal the employer mandate that was included in President Obama’s $2.6 trillion health law that requires businesses of 50 employees or more to provide health insurance for employees working 30 hours or more. “We are grateful to these bipartisan lawmakers for recognizing the burden that the employer mandate places on the franchising community, and look forward to working in both the legislative and regulatory arenas to gain the additional flexibility for America’s franchise owners in complying with the Affordable Care Act,” said Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) in a statement.
