KFC, the QSR brand known for innovative ad campaigns and of course, finger lickin’-good chicken, is preparing to launch delivery in 2019, according to an article on Nation’s Restaurant News.

KFC reportedly performed well for parent company Yum Brands Inc., “which reported global same-store sales growth of 4% for the first quarter,” the article said. And that without delivery. “Yum CEO Greg Creed said KFC’s strong numbers were driven by strong results in international markets, including double-digit same-store gains in Japan and Indonesia,” according to the article.

Per the article, “KFC delivery is now available in 2,200 restaurants through Grubhub” in the U.S. Creed said that, “I always jokingly say I think the Colonel 60 years ago invented the bucket realizing one day we’d delivery it.  It’s the perfect delivery vehicle,” according to the article.

In the interest of fighting the “cannibalization effect” of third-party delivery services eating away at earnings that historically directed to the original provider, KFC plans to roll out its own delivery service later in the year.
