The story is no different for Scott and Heather Davis, a pair of franchisees who will soon open their Denton location with the emerging chicken concept.“Heather and her whole family are Aggies, so I was already familiar with the brand,” Scott said. “We would always joke about when Layne’s was going to start franchising, and low and behold in early spring 2021, I read an article that Layne’s was franchising and opening in the Houston market that summer. I called almost immediately to start digging in and getting a better idea of what all it took to open.”With previous operational experience, desire to expand further in the franchise space and an existing love for Layne’s, investing in the chicken concept was a natural next step. Throughout his career, Scott has moved between corporate and franchise concepts multiple times. More recently, he circled back to franchising. Three years ago, he left the corporate world to operate a family-focused entertainment franchise and realized just how much he loved the franchise model.For Heather and Scott, the people of the franchise play a critical role in their experience with the brand. Because the two have previous franchise, operational and IT experience, they feel more confident managing the logistical aspects of their brands than an average new franchisee might.
