MaidThis has officially earned a place on 1851 Franchise’s 2026 Fastest Growing Emerging Franchises list — a recognition that highlights brands shaping the future of franchising through innovation, momentum and strong demand. As interest from franchisees continues to climb, MaidThis is entering a pivotal phase of expansion.
History and Origin Story
Neel Parekh founded MaidThis in 2013 after noticing recurring issues across local cleaning companies. Scheduling was usually handled by phone, payment systems lagged behind, and customers rarely knew what level of service to expect from one visit to the next.
“I started the business as a side hustle while working a corporate job. It was initially just a small operation in Los Angeles,” Parekh said. “By 2018, I had grown it enough that I decided to quit my job and travel full-time while continuing to build the business remotely.”
As the company grew, the type of customer it served began to change. More short-term rental hosts were reaching out, often because they needed fast, predictable turnovers between guests. MaidThis responded by putting greater emphasis on vacation rental cleanings, without stepping away from residential work. Once the model had been proven across multiple markets, the franchise program was rolled out in 2020.
Why the Franchise Stands Out
MaidThis operates in two primary service areas: residential cleaning and short-term rental cleaning. This approach allows franchise owners to work with repeat residential customers while also supporting vacation rental hosts who depend on consistent scheduling and dependable cleaning standards.
The model does not require a physical office, company vehicles, or large upfront equipment costs. Owners manage the business remotely, with software handling most scheduling and payment tasks. This setup reduces day-to-day oversight and keeps the focus on growth.
“We try to keep it accessible so that those with a passion for the brand but not necessarily deep pockets can still get involved,” Parekh said.
Compared to many local cleaning companies that remain low-tech and marketing-light, MaidThis positions itself as a modern service brand built for convenience, speed and consistency.
System Growth and 2026 Momentum
MaidThis has grown into a national footprint with locations in a range of major metro areas and vacation-heavy markets. Current operators are based across states such as Texas, Florida, California, Colorado, Arizona, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Illinois.
“A lot of [our growth] comes down to how we've structured the model,” Parekh said. “The goal was always to make it as seamless as possible for franchisees to succeed. We have a support system in place and an operational framework that allows for easy replication.”
MaidThis continues to see interest in markets where short-term rentals are becoming more common and expectations around cleaning have increased. With roughly 40 locations in operation, the brand has taken a measured approach to expansion, placing more emphasis on the right territories than on rapid rollout.
Why Now Is the Moment for New Franchisees
Short-term rentals have become a more common option for travelers, which has changed what hosts expect from cleaning providers. Turnover speed, consistency, and scheduling now matter more than they did in the past, and many traditional cleaning companies have had difficulty keeping up.
MaidThis was built around how customers now book and manage cleaning services, with systems that support remote operation from the start. The low startup cost and no required real estate make the model good for owners who want flexibility without giving up room to grow.
Looking Ahead
Looking toward 2026 and beyond, MaidThis plans to continue expanding into select U.S. markets while refining its technology, training, and support infrastructure. The brand is focused on strengthening its national footprint, improving system efficiency, and supporting franchise owners as they scale into multi-territory operations where appropriate.
“We’re going slow and steady,” Parekh said. “There are three main categories that I look for when someone inquires: Do they actually have the hustle to execute the model? What are their expectations? And are they a fit for the company culture? … A lot of people who get in want lifestyle freedom and to scale to a point where they could leave their job and travel the world. And that’s what we offer.”
With consumer expectations continuing to shift toward convenience and automation, MaidThis intends to remain aligned with how customers book, schedule, and evaluate cleaning services.
