McDonald’s to Offer Free Meals to Healthcare Workers and First Responders

From Wednesday until May 5, the fast food giant will offer one free “Thank You Meal” per day to first responders and healthcare workers.

On Tuesday, McDonald’s Corp. announced a new initiative to feed healthcare workers and first responders at participating corporate and franchisee-owned locations.

From April 22 until May 5, healthcare workers and first responders, such as police officers, paramedics and firefighters, are entitled to one free “Thank You Meal” per day at participating locations. Served in “Happy Meal” boxes, “Thank You Meals” include a choice of sandwich, side and drink as well as a note of appreciation. To receive a “Thank You Meal,” customers must present proof of employment, such as a work badge, with an eligible organization.

McDonald’s is promoting the outreach campaign with a video advertisement called “Grown Brave,” which features images of frontline and healthcare workers eating McDonald’s as children.

Earlier this month, McDonald’s Corp. announced it would pause new restaurant growth worldwide and reduce store remodels in an effort to save $1 billion in 2020.
