Since its founding in 2011, Mighty Quinn’s Barbeque has grown to 10 total locations across New York and New Jersey with five franchises operating internationally. And now, the brand has big plans to continue its growth in similar markets through franchising. To jump start that growth initiative, Mighty Quinn’s is actively targeting nearby urban communities and their surrounding suburbs for expansion, including the greater Boston area.
Mighty Quinn’s has become a clear a leader in the fast-casual BBQ category by not sacrificing what makes it so mouthwatering delicious — authentic, wood-smoked meat. The brand has defined Urban BBQ as the merging of two great barbecue traditions: Texas and the Carolinas. It brings together the best of both flavors and creates something uniquely its own.
“This is a concept that is appealing everywhere we go,” said Mighty Quinn's co-founder Micha Magid. “People love barbeque, but few have gotten a chance to try real, authentic, wood-smoked barbeque, and we’re excited to give them the opportunity.”
Mighty Quinn’s desire to open in Boston and speak with aspiring franchisees is largely due to the fact that the brand wants local partners as part of its expansion. Strategically, the brand is targeting Boston because its similar to its home base in New York — both Boston and New York City are foodie cities with large populations of families and business people alike.
Magid notes that Boston offers exactly what the Mighty Quinn’s brand is looking for, including its large metropolitan community, proximity to New York and recent interest in BBQ eateries. Additionally, according to Forbes, Boston is ranked as the number 30 best place for business and careers.
“We've developed a model that can succeed almost anywhere, yet we want to show our partners that we can provide the resources and support they need to open a new location,” said Christos Gourmos, co-founder of Mighty Quinn’s. “Boston is a perfect place to allow us to work with new franchisees to succeed in a market so similar to the one we have been thriving in for years.”
Gourmos is looking forward to finding the right people with a passion for the food and a business sensibility to help them to continue to lead the fast-casual barbeque industry.

The brand is ready to make these necessary steps to grow and has already proven its success with a franchise model, corporate locations and ability to thrive in communities across the globe. Mighty Quinn’s 10 corporate locations in New York and New Jersey prove the brand’s ability to succeed from both a consumer and operations standpoint. The brand has also already established five franchise locations in Taiwan, the Philippines and Dubai that are all currently thriving.
