MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes Looks To a Tech-Enabled Future With System-Wide Upgrades

The leading better-burger brand is making a positive impact by implementing kiosk solutions, app innovations and digital menu boards.

Technology has provided a lot of great benefits for humanity. It put a man on the moon. It decoded the human genome. It gave us the ? emoji. 

But now, tech is finally doing something really useful: It’s making it even easier for MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes fans to get a hot, delicious burger.

MOOYAH Burgers, Fries & Shakes, the Plano, Texas-based leading better-burger franchise with more than 85 locations worldwide, is investing in the future of its restaurants by leveraging the best technology solutions available. 

“We’ve taken a 360-degree approach to utilizing technology,” said Natalie Anderson Liu, MOOYAH’s Vice President of Brand. “All the digital initiatives we are implementing are really in service of one thing: improving the Guest experience at every step of the way.”

From digital menu boards to kiosks to innovative app functionality, the investments are paying off in smoother operations, more accurate orders, shorter wait times and happier Guests. 

“By implementing a whole series of technology solutions, we’re doubling down on our commitment to make sure that our service is fast, and that our Guests are getting their correct order in seven minutes or less,” said Mike Sebazco, MOOYAH’s Vice President of Operations. “When it comes down to it, it’s making sure that we’re delivering on our fundamental promise to serve hot, delicious food as quickly and easily as we can.”

Here’s a look at some of the technology the brand is rolling out:

Digital Menu Boards

Gone are the days where Franchise Owners waited for a thumb drive to download menu files onto a TV monitor. By partnering with a company called Ping HD, MOOYAH developed an enterprise-wide digital solution that allows it to update menus, troubleshoot problems, showcase animation and experiment across the entire system. 

“They offer us the opportunity to be more nimble than ever. We can change prices or accommodate regional menus with a few keystrokes,” said Anderson Liu. Another benefit is the ability to add touches of animated video that can help highlight limited-time offers or bring the Guest’s attention to additional items like chips, shakes, fries and drinks.

Kiosk Ordering

Currently being used on MOOYAH’s University of Connecticut campus location and the brand’s new Times Square location in New York City, kiosks offer a huge variety of benefits. For one, it gets people through the ordering process more quickly, and by being connected to the kitchen display systems, the orders come out even faster. But even better — data shows that Guests spend more per check. According to Anderson Liu, more Franchise Owners are beginning to show interest in bringing kiosks to their locations, especially with the current staffing challenges. 

App & Curbside Pickup Innovations

While off-premise ordering and app-based ordering increased during the pandemic, it wasn’t always smooth sailing, particularly for Guests who were picking up orders curbside.

“We needed an easier way to connect with our Guests who were there for pickup. Now they have the ability to use the app or confirmation email to click a button that lets the Team Member know they’ve arrived and are waiting in their vehicles,” said Anderson Liu.

The system sends an alert to the team, which prompts them to take the order out to the Guests. The app also works for dine-in, allowing the Guest to find a table and then use the app to place their order on their smart device to order right from the table.

“It’s like we gave everyone their own kiosk on their phone,” said Anderson Liu.

Anderson Liu also says that these digital technologies add additional value to other tech initiatives the company has spearheaded over the past few years, such as deploying a unified POS system and kitchen display system, as well as partnering with a single integrated vendor system to handle specific processes like online ordering and loyalty.

“By establishing a pipeline of technology innovations, all focused on improving the Guest experience and improving operational efficiency, MOOYAH has made it faster and easier than ever before,” said Anderson Liu. “We’ve always been focused on keeping the brand simple to operate; this is a strength of MOOYAH. These initiatives take it to the next level.”
