According to the Center for Disease control, almost 40,000 people in the United States have been reported with West Nile virus disease, and many more cases of illness are not reported. Additionally, As of January 13 2015, a total of 47 states and the District of Columbia have reported West Nile virus infections in people, birds or mosquitos. Wilson saw this as an opportunity to help communities. Having built a career based on finding emerging concepts with upside potential as a partner in Envest Ventures, a private equity group that oversaw $160M across three funds with over 28 investments, Wilson knew Mosquito Joe was onto something, but just needed the fuel to spark its growth. In early 2012, Wilson raised $3.5 million dollars and recruited seven executive team leaders as CEO. After executing a complete rebranding of Mosquito Joe and developing a consistent image and brand message across all mediums, the team was prepared for the brand&#8217;s methodical franchise growth. The brand sold its first territory in 2013, and last year signed its 100th territory after two years of franchising. <span style=" color: #010101; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-color: white; background-size: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial;">&#8220;We celebrated our critical milestone last year, and it was a tremendous accomplishment for the corporate team and our franchisees,&#8221; said Wilson. &#8220;In less than two years, we received such a humbling response from satisfied customers, and we look forward to seeing what 2015 will bring.&#8221; Mosquito Joe, which recently held its 2nd Annual Convention on January 22-24, is using its garnered expansion momentum to start and finish 2015 off on a high note. &#8220;The mosquito problem in the U.S. is not going to go away, so we hope to revolutionize the industry and grow strategically through franchising,&#8221; said Tim Johnson, Director of Operations at Mosquito Joe. With the summer months slowly approaching, the brand anticipates an upsurge in services as well as signed territories. Currently, Mosquito Joe is targeting expansion in mosquito-heavy states such as Florida, California and Texas.
