Nation's Restaurant News: Red Lobster partners with Seafood Watch

The partnership will educate and guide the brand in its decision to source seafood more responsibly.

Red Lobster is taking steps to help improve the sustainability of fisheries across the globe. According to a recent article in Nation's Restaurant News, the brand has announced that it will be taking part in the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program to ensure it is sourcing fish responsibly.

“Red Lobster is committed to taking a leadership position in conserving and protecting every kind of seafood we source. Our partnership with Seafood Watch is the natural next step in keeping our commitments and driving continuous improvement within our seafood supply chain,” said CEO Kim Lopdrup.

Prior to this partnership, Seafood Watch had 197 partners in the restaurant industry. With the addition of Red Lobster's locations, the organization will reach nearly 1,000. Seafood Watch also works with groceries and food management companies to educate and guide decisions in order to benefit underwater ecosystems.
