Wendy's is rolling out a smaller model of their current restaurants which will feature bold curb appeal and modern decor throughout. Nation's Restaurant News noted that The Smart 55 design will take up a quarter to a half of an acre, as opposed to the previous one acre needed for older models. 

According to a company spokesperson, the new “Smart Design Platform” costs about $300,000 less than the company’s standard building and will cover about 2,600 square feet and seat between 56 and 58 indoors. The new models also features the franchise's Smart Design 2.0 which highlights energy efficiency and touts an additional savings of $150,000. 

The Smart 55 model is the most recent in-store enhancement the franchise has made to enhance in-store presence . At the end of 2017, 43 percent of the global system had been reimaged with the new look and feel.
