With the Winter Olympics set to kick off in Pyeongchang, South Korea on Friday, restaurant brands are finding innovative ways to engage customers while tapping into the power of the highly popular televised event. According to a recent article in Nation’s Restaurant News, restaurants are getting innovative with the ways that they’re capitalizing on the momentum behind the games, from themed menu items to viewing parties.

Way & Means Oyster House, for example, is doing a happy hour through February 25 with an Olympic-inspired cocktail called the Gold Medal Martini. Baskin Robbins is also rolling out a Gold Medal Ribbon flavor, which is vanilla and chocolate ice cream swirled with caramel. The VNYL in New York City is taking a different approach—the restaurant is projecting the Olympics on a 36-foot screen with surround sound. 7-Eleven is also capitalizing on the games with a Winter Olympics offer. The chain will put a Hershey’s Gold caramelized crème cappuccino on its menu through February 28.
