Nikita Hair is Expanding Despite Corona Virus

Nikita Hair, a hair salon group established in Scandinavia in 1984, is expanding and growing despite COVID-19.

With salons across three countries, Nikita Hair was affected globally. When COVID-19 became widespread in March of this year, the government in Norway ordered salons to close, giving the company a mere 3 hours to close over 100 salons. “Was it bad? Absolutely!”, said Inger Nicolaisen the founder of Nikita Hair. The salons were closed for seven weeks, and on April 27 were finally permitted to open again.

“May and June were like Christmas and the 4th of July at the same time, we had all time high in revenue. The closure of salons has helped to shine light on the true value of hair care services. The hairdressing profession has gained a higher status, as people have been sitting at home with regrowth and in desperate need of a good haircut. We now know from experience; we all need a skilled hairdresser to maintain healthy, great looking hair,” Nicolaisen shared.  

In addition to a strong comeback in the salons in Europe, Nikita Hair continues expansion in the US.  On July 2nd, Nikita Hair opened a new salon in Ohio, and the next salon to open will be in Charleston, SC.

Challenges are nothing new to Nicolaisen. When she started her hairdressing adventure in 1984 with the launch of the Nikita Hair salon group, she was then 26 years old with a new baby,  Christinah Nicolaisen. Today, Christinah has taken on the role of President and chairwoman of the board of a company that has developed into one of Europe's largest hairdressing groups.

Nicolaisen has far from withdrawn from the company.  Despite the fact that her daughter has taken over the day-to-day operations in Europe, she has been focused on working to establish the brand Nikita Hair in the US; which is the salon groups next big market. The first goal is to open 200 franchise salons.
