After growing up in a family of caregivers in the Merrillville, Indiana, community, opening a Right at Home* seemed like a natural business move for Marc Sokol. Marc and his wife Kristen recently opened their Right at Home franchise in Merrillville this past April and credit their background with the decision.

“My father, Dr. Allen Sokol, was a pediatrician in the region for about 45 years, and my mother, Carole Dougherty, was a licensed clinical social worker for about 30 years,” Sokol told the Northwest Indiana Times. “My parents instilled in me a passion for helping those in need and I’m proud of that heritage.”

Right at Home offers non medical in-home care and assistance for seniors and disabled adults including daily care, 24/7 care, live-in services, overnight services, couples’ care and veterans care.

According to Tom King, franchise development director of Right at Home, told the Northwest Indiana Times that offices are independently owned and operated. Right at Home’s global office is based in Omaha, Nebraska, and the brand has more than 400 franchise locations in the U.S. and more than 50 locations in eight other countries.

“We have four available territories left in Northwest Indiana,” King told the Northwest Indiana Times. “Our goal is to find the right candidates and help them understand the Right at Home business model. Once they move forward, we will work with them until they achieve success with significance.”
