Customer credit and debit card information has been stolen in a malware attack that affected an undisclosed number of Chilis Grill &amp; Bar restaurants this spring.

According to an <a href="http://www.nrn.com/casual-dining/chili-s-data-breach-impacts-customer-payment-information?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=nrn-chilis-data-breach-impacts-customer-payment-information-2706525" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">article in Nation&rsquo;s Restaurant News</a>, Brinker International Inc, the franchise&rsquo;s parent company, announced the hack on Friday, the same day it was discovered. The hack occurred between March and April of this year. The company did not say how many restaurants or customers may have been exposed to the breach.

Brinker International said the attack was designed to gather payment card information from the restaurants&rsquo; payment-related systems for in-restaurant purchases. The company said it has notified law enforcement authorities and is working with a third-party forensics investigator to gather details.

&ldquo;We deeply value our relationships with our guests and our priority remains doing what is right for them,&rdquo; Brinker said in its statement regarding the attack. &ldquo;We are committed to sharing additional information on this ongoing investigation.&rdquo;
