Charlotte has been eyed as a key development market for national take 'n' bake pizza franchise, Papa Murphy's. The brand has opened six of its nine stores in the market in the past twelve months and is looking to build off this momentum by developing new shops in Huntersville, Gastonia and Cornelius.
"Charlotte is a very fast-growing area, and there's a lot of very exciting economic development that's going on there, so I think it naturally lends itself to our target," said Papa Murphy's VP of Franchise Sales Gary Payne in an interview with the Charlotte Business Journal.
Papa Murphy's has been successful by differentiating not only their product but also their marketing tactics. The brand offers an uncooked product and aims to serve families with their customizable pizzas and high quality ingredients. Papa Murphy's goal is to open a total of 25 stores in the Charlotte area within the next two to five years.
"We're expanding in some of the smaller (markets) in the Southeast before tackling an Atlanta," Payne said to the Charlotte Business Journal. "Charlotte would represent the largest city in the Southeast that we are already in and have plans to develop in a pretty substantial way."
Aside from Charlotte, Papa Murphy's is also looking at development opportunities in Wilmington, Raleigh and Greensboro.
