Father-Daughter Franchisees Work To Grow Paris Baguette in New York
Sam Lamba and his daughters, Shauny and Anchal, first learned of the bakery cafe franchise through their work as master franchisees of a Bubble Tea brand. Now, they own six cafes and are still growing
For Sam Lamba and his daughters, Shauny and Anchal, what started as a master franchisee role with a bubble tea franchise has now grown into a food business empire with Paris Baguette. Since finding out about Paris Baguette, the global bakery café franchise with over 180 locations across North America, the Lambas now run six New York Paris Baguette cafés and are continuing to grow the French-inspired café’s presence throughout the city.
“My family first got into franchising with a Bubble Tea franchise. We’re master franchisees for the brand in several U.S. states,” said Shauny. “One of our franchisees opened over 16 locations, and was actually someone my father knew from his time in the cell phone industry. That franchisee presented Paris Baguette to us and proposed partnering to franchise locations in New York. We now work together, in some capacity, on over 20 food and beverage business locations.”
To start, the Lambas and their partners secured rights to develop Paris Baguette on Long Island, and they have since acquired corporate cafés in Queens and Brooklyn. Now, they own two Queens locations, one Brooklyn location and three Long Island locations. There is another café in progress on Long Island.
“When we started considering investing with Paris Baguette, we realized that there was so much untapped potential,” Shauny said. “We had done the groundwork to know that we would be successful and with a proper team in place we were able to expand quickly. Plus, because it’s a franchise, we had the backing of the franchisor and all of their experience.”
As Paris Baguette has gained popularity and expanded their presence in New York, the Lambas have become celebrated members of the community.
“Paris Baguette is very unique. It’s a bakery café, but it's a self-serve experience,” Shauny said. “For guests, there’s so much excitement to come in and try everything. Before we began expanding, people were traveling over an hour to Queens to pick up a Paris Baguette cake. Now, the cafés are a huge success, and we’re becoming more well-known in the community. If I go to a new dentist, for example, and the hygienist finds out I’m involved with Paris Baguette, there’s excitement around the fact that I’m a part of it. It’s great to see everyone in the community enjoying the brand so much.”
Shauny says that, as a family of foodies, it just makes sense that we have become so heavily involved in the food and beverage space. While their existing Paris Baguette locations are performing well and bringing in-demand freshly baked and brewed goods to their respective neighborhoods, this is only the beginning.
“We’ve continued to grow and grow every year. It’s been a huge success, and we’re excited to continue growing in this way, bringing such a celebrated offering to our community,” Shauny said.
