First up in Threshold Brand’s current development strategy is&nbsp;<a href="http://franchise.patiopatrol.com/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=threshold-brands-aims-to-grow-the-patio-patrol-franchise-network-in-2022-and-beyond-2719237" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Patio Patrol</a>, an emerging pest control brand previously known as FlyFoe that Kappler says is well-positioned to secure an outsized share of its market. The brand is ramping up its growth strategy in pursuit of doubling its unit count by the end of 2022.“Demand for home services of all kinds has skyrocketed since the onset of the pandemic, and as people continue to spend more time at home thanks to new remote work options and other lifestyle shifts, outdoor spaces have become all the more important,” Kappler said. “As a result, we are seeing a dramatically increased need for pest control services. Because Patio Patrol is backed by Threshold Brands, it benefits from support and resources unavailable to its independent competitors.”The original company FlyFoe was founded by Mark Kushinsky in Boston after he became frustrated with his local mosquito and tick control companies. The lack of effective treatment left him and his family bombarded by pests and at risk for infectious diseases.When Kushinsky, who was also the CEO of MaidPro Franchising, began exploring franchising the pest control concept, he joined forces with a local pest control company, Mosquito Experts, run by father and son team Steve and Stephen Novick.Before long, the fledgling pest-control brand was making waves in its local market, riding the momentum of referrals and catching the attention not only of competitors but also other brands in the home services space.Over the next several years, FlyFoe grew steadily, primarily among MaidPro franchise owners who saw an opportunity to expand their business with a complementary concept —&nbsp;both brands require no brick-and-mortar space and share a similar customer base.&nbsp;Then, in 2020, FlyFoe was acquired by Threshold Brands. Impressed by FlyFoe’s early growth and its natural fit with other home service concepts, Threshold Brands sought to turn the brand into a leader in the pest control space by adding additional services, and rebranding to Patio Patrol.“When we consider adding a brand to our roster, we look at several things, including demand for the service, the quality of the offering and the strength of the franchise model.
