About a year ago, I was laid off, and that pushed us to start exploring new paths. We knew we wanted to do something of our own, and when we found Pet Wants, it lined up perfectly with what we wished we had had back then.1851: What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?Kariann: I’ve always been in the health care industry, working front desk in various clinics.Jerrod: I was in the automotive industry for about 15 years on the corporate side. That meant a lot of moving around, but we were looking for a way to stay in one place and finally put down roots again.1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you’re in it?Kariann: Even starting with a franchise, it felt overwhelming at times.
