Lincoln Journal Star: Pollo Campero to Expand into Nebraska

Pollo Campero, the iconic Central American chicken franchise, is bringing its flavorful and beloved menu to Nebraska as it continues its ongoing expansion in the Midwest U.S.

Pollo Campero, the Central American chicken franchise with more than 400 restaurants worldwide, is expanding its presence in the Midwest, with plans to open its first locations in Nebraska by the end of the year, Lincoln Journal Star recently reported

Blas Escarcega, vice president of franchise development for Pollo Campero, highlighted the significance of this expansion into Nebraska, marking the brand's entry into its 20th U.S. state. The cities of Lincoln, Gretna and Crete have been identified as key locations for the new restaurants, with franchisee selection currently underway. "Nebraska is very important for us because we believe there's a great opportunity to bring the brand to the Midwest," Escarcega said.

The decision to expand into Nebraska is partly fueled by the brand's strong following among Central American communities in the U.S. Escarcega shared stories of loyal customers driving from Omaha to Minneapolis just to purchase Pollo Campero's signature chicken. The nostalgic connection to home has been a major driver for the chain’s growth in the U.S.

"We knew that there was a big following in Central America,” said Escarcega. “But we also realized that in the U.S. that these people who have migrated over the last 40 years have the same passion for the brand."

As Pollo Campero looks to finalize its Nebraska locations by December, the brand is eager to bring its beloved fried chicken to new communities in the Midwest, continuing its legacy of offering a taste of home to its fans around the world.
