Pollo Campero, the Central American chicken franchise with 100 locations in the U.S. and another 350 around the world, has broken into South Carolina. The new Rock Hill franchise recently opened at 1022 Riverview Road, offering Guatemalan fried chicken, empanadas, chicken sandwiches, bowls, salads and more.

“We’re excited to be in a new state,” Blas Escarcega, vice president of franchise development, told The Charlotte Observer. “It’s a great community. We’re excited that people came out the first day to visit us, and I think people are going to find that our food is something that’s going to be flavorful.”

Pollo Campero’s flavorful chicken meals originate from a decades-old family recipe, bringing unique Guatemalan flavors — which are often new to the diners in the area — to the U.S. markets it enters. This differentiated product offering has served the brand well, propelling its ongoing growth across the U.S.

Earlier this year, Pollo Campero opened its 100th U.S. location, and the Rock Hill opening marks the brand’s entry to a 20th state.

“The Southeast loves fried chicken,” Escarcega said. “We know that people consume more fried chicken in the Southeast than anywhere in the U.S. We knew it was going to be a success for us being in this state.”
