Chicken is pulling ahead of Mexican, burgers, and pizza in interest and sales.
YouGov BrandIndex reported that in the past 18 months chicken chains have seen higher interest and sales than Mexican quick service and fast casual.
Ted Marzilli, CEO of YouGov BrandIndex, added that two percentage points “can be pretty meaningful in a large and mature sector.”
19 percent of millennials say that for their next fast food visit they are considering chicken, and only 10 percent say they are considering Mexican food.
“People want the choice of healthier options,” Marzilli says. “Chicken is seen as better for you, and consumers are coming down on the side of balance.”
