QSR Magazine: McDonald's is Testing a New Fresh-Beef Burger

The Archburger returns after nearly two decades.

McDonald's is testing out the return of a more sophisticated burger option in select Oklahoma restaurants. According to a recent article in QSR Magazine, the Archburger originated in 1996 but was short lived. The company hopes modern consumers will be more receptive to the offering.

The burger will feature fresh beef rather than frozen and retail for just north of two dollars. According to the article, when the burger was first launched in the 1990s, its pricing was steep in comparison to other menu items. Now, it falls closer to the value side.

"Over the last two years, we have accelerated the pace of change around how we source and serve our food. Delivering fresh beef that’s prepared when our customers order their food is just another example of how we are raising the bar. We’re just getting started, and can’t wait to show you what’s next," said President Chris Kempczinski.
