McDonald's has gained international attention for installing ordering kiosks at select locations. According to a recent article in QSR Magazine, the brand hopes to add an additional 1,000 kiosk per quarter. The brand hopes to sustain this upgrade schedule for between eight and nine quarters.

“We're introducing many options. They can order through mobile, they can come curbside and we'll run it out as well as the existing traditional ways. You can pay in different ways and customize your food in different ways. I think we're trying to add more choice and variety,” said CEO Steve Easterbrook.

The kiosks are part of the brand's Experience of the Future project. This design upgrade is a multi-year plan that the brand has invested over $2 billion into executing across its system.
