The investigation into Chipotle&rsquo;s security breach this spring is now completed. According to a <a href="https://www.qsrmagazine.com/news/security-breach-hits-most-chipotle-locations-nationwide?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=qsr-magazine-security-breach-hits-most-chipotle-locations-nationwide-12382" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">recent QSR Magazine article</a>, &ldquo;most&rdquo; of the company&rsquo;s 2,250 locations were affected by the breach sometime between March 24 and April 18, including Canadian locations and the brand&rsquo;s fast casual pizza partner, Pizzeria Locales. Consumers can check on the company&rsquo;s website to see exactly which locations were hit.

&ldquo;The investigation identified the operation of malware designed to access payment card data from cards used on point-of-sale (POS) devices at certain Chipotle and Pizzeria Locale&nbsp;restaurants between March 24, 2017 and April 18, 2017,&rdquo; said Chipotle in a release.

Security analysts mentioned that the company may be subject to a fine due to the size of the breach. Consumers who may have used a payment card at affected locations should continue to monitor their accounts and statements for the chance of fraud.
