Restaurant Business Online: Beer for Delivery

While delivery and takeout become must-haves for restaurants, customers are demanding beverages to go with their food.

As takeout and delivery become the norm in the restaurant industry, beverage sales don’t have to suffer. According to a recent Restaurant Business Online article, Buffalo Wild Wings is testing out the idea of offering its draft beer selection for takeout in Michigan, Washington and New York in order to increase the average off-premise check.

“As consumer demand for convenience continues to fuel growth in takeout, it’s important we continue to explore additional product offerings that meet the needs of our guests,” says Andrea Benzschawel, director of beverage at Buffalo Wild Wings. “Beer to go is a great option.”

The brand is using draft-filled growlers and crowlers, a 32-ounce can version of a growler that is filled and sealed on premise, for beer deliveries and takeout. To roll this out to all locations, the company would have to invest in the machine for filling growler cans versus regular growlers that can be filled at the tap.
