In an interview with the Athens Banner-Herald, Wanda Scott, branch director of Watkinsonville’s Right at Home, details how her passion for healthcare comes from her childhood when her mother was diagnosed with cancer. Scott has held jobs in the care-related field ever since. Right at Home offers in-home companionship, personal care, and assistance to seniors and adults with disabilities who want to live independently and customizes their assistance to fit the needs of the client whether helping with physical therapy or laundry.
When the pandemic hit the senior community hardest in the beginning of March 2020, Scott was able to bring in essential workers to help care for seniors in their homes and keep them safe from the virus spreading throughout assisted living facilities.
“It’s always been about caring for people,” said Scott. “What changed for me was when I began thinking about the love that I feel and rewards that I get when taking care of the senior community.”
Scott manages 50 employees at Watkinsonville’s Right at Home, which can provide varying levels of care. Right at Home, headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, was founded in 1995 and has 500+ locations across the U.S. and seven other countries.
