Right at Home, the 700-plus-unit in-home care franchise, is planning to expand its services to Midland, Texas, aiming to address the needs of the area's aging population and adults with disabilities. The franchise offers companion care, personal care and specialized nursing services, which include assistance with daily activities, housekeeping and more. 

The decision to expand to Midland comes in response to a growing trend of seniors choosing to stay at home rather than move to traditional nursing or retirement homes. This trend saw a significant rise following the COVID-19 pandemic, with Right at Home experiencing a 40% growth increase as more individuals opted for in-home care.

“When people reach a certain age, I don’t know of anyone that has ever said like ‘I cannot wait to get to a nursing home,'” Jennifer Chaney, Right at Home’s vice president of franchise development, told the Midland-Reporter Telegram. “People really want to age gracefully in place, in their home, in the place where they feel the most comfortable and provide the sense of independence and comfort.”

Midland, with its population of 32,000 seniors, presents a significant opportunity for Right at Home to provide its services and support the community.

The expansion plan includes opening a new territory in Midland and recruiting numerous caregivers to meet the demand. Right at Home is committed to providing comprehensive training and resources to ensure caregivers deliver high-quality care. Despite the nationwide caregiver shortage, the franchise is confident in its ability to attract and retain skilled staff.

Once an agreement is finalized, Right at Home aims to start operations within four to six months, potentially sooner. The new Midland location will also require office space to house staff and training facilities.
