Alexandra Myers, a former Navy officer, found shifting from military to civilian life to be a ‘smooth’ transition.

Following five years of service, the 33-year-old New Orleans native found her niche as an entrepreneur. By the end of the summer, she will be the owner of 10 Smoothie King locations, all of which are on or near military bases across the U.S.

As a former servicewoman, Myers recognized the need to provide healthy food options to servicemen and woman.

“I saw this as a great opportunity to bring an existing concept within a growing market sector to people seeking healthier fast food options, especially where they are often lacking accessibility on military bases,” Myers told Entrepreneur.com.

Growing up in New Orleans, Myers was familiar with the Smoothie King brand. Recognizing that the concept was a prove high-quality product, she said the knew there was a lot of growth potential across the country.

“Smoothie King is a great brand with an aggressive growth strategy—smoothie consumption has nearly doubled in the last five years as a meal option for consumers,” Myers said. “It’s great to be a part of a brand with a clear direction for growth, brand presence and image.”
