Healthy lifestyle devotees bring a unique energy and vibrancy to Smoothie King ownership

Smoothie King, the New Orleans-based innovator of the smoothie segment, plans to open more than 120 new locations in 2016. In an effort to further identify potential franchisee candidates that align with its mission to inspire people to live a healthy and active lifestyle , Smoothie King is now targeting fitness enthusiasts and personal trainers that have the entrepreneurial desire to become small business owners and Smoothie King franchisees.

Smoothie King Franchise Development Manager Stephen Foley said franchisees with a background in fitness reflect the brand’s mantra of “practicing what it preaches.”

“When you’re opening a business, you’re selling not only the products and the brand, but you’re also selling yourself,” Foley said. “We practice what we preach and it correlates to our franchise owners. We love to have those in the fitness industry come on as franchisees, but we also educate and train our franchisees to know our products inside and out, and be ready to answer any questions a customer may have. With our educated franchisees, customers will be able to learn more about our quality products, and subsequently live a healthier lifestyle.”

Jason Shields, for example, is a Smoothie King franchisee based out of New Orleans, who was able to leverage his background as a strength and nutrition coach to tap into the $2 billion juice and smoothie industry. Foley said franchisees like Shields are uniquely positioned to help Smoothie King guests achieve their fitness goals because of the knowledge and education they can provide.

Even if you don’t have a background in business, Smoothie King’s processes, team members and resources are all aligned to deliver the education, motivation and support to successfully launch a new Smoothie King, and this support structure continues on for the life of the business. Prospective franchisees can expect their total initial investment for a franchise to range from $181,100 to $422,950, including the $30,000 franchise fee.

“Our brand offers smoothies with a purpose, and our menu items are defined to fit anyone’s needs. We have smoothies for triathletes, bodybuilders and even smoothies for nine-to-five workers,” Foley said. “We love the input fitness enthusiasts bring to our company and we look forward to bringing on more to the Smoothie King family.”
