TechCrunch: Facebook Launches Messenger Day To Take On Snapchat Stories

Facebook unveiled its Snapchat clone Messenger Day, a brand new way to share what you’re doing through photos and videos

Facebook is shaking up the social media slideshow format. The social network launched Messenger Day globally on Thursday.

Messenger Day is a direct competitor to Snapchat, but focuses instead on what’s happening now versus what happened.

Facebook’s VP of messaging David Marcus told TechCrunch, “This is about today. It’s not about yesterday. It’s not about tomorrow.”

Messenger Day lives at the top of Facebook’s iOS and Android chat apps and allows you to see what users are active at the time. Messenger Day also encourages users to find friends to chat or meet up with. Each post can be shared with the public or with friends for up to 24 hours.
