TechCrunch: Twitter Launches Live Video
Twitter releases new Live Video API allowing publishers to bypass Periscope and broadcast directly to the app.
Twitter is stepping up its live video game.
The social media network launched a live video API that will bridge the gap with its existing Periscope Producer feature. The live video API launched Tuesday morning.
The feature functions similar to the Facebook Live API and allows big camera, editing boards, satellite vans and more to broadcast directly to Twitter. The live API will be more customizable than Periscope.
Twitter has struck a number of live partnerships lately including Thursday Night Football, but it’s unclear how that will play into its live video plans.
