The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is gearing up to expand its footprint in Southern California with a new café at Camarillo Premium Outlets. Leading the development is experienced franchisee Tae H. Kim.

"I have been involved in the restaurant and food service industry for many years," Kim said. "Throughout my career, I have owned and operated sushi restaurants, developed two Paris Baguette locations, and am currently focused on operating my restaurant business while expanding into new concepts, including It's Boba Time and, now, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf."

That broad experience has given Kim a unique perspective on what makes a franchise opportunity stand out.

"My experience across different food and beverage concepts has taught me the importance of strong operations, customer service, and building great teams," he said. "Franchising became a natural path because it provides the opportunity to grow with established brands that have proven systems and strong customer recognition."

Finding the Right Brand

As Kim evaluated opportunities for continued expansion, several factors drew him to The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

"I was drawn to The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf because of its strong brand reputation, quality products, and loyal customer base," he said. "After learning more about the company and its long history in the coffee and tea industry, I felt it was a great fit for my experience and long-term business goals."

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf was founded in Southern California more than 60 years ago, and the brand has built a solid name for itself by focusing on the basics: great handcrafted drinks, quality coffee and tea, and a genuine, welcoming vibe. For someone like Kim, who builds businesses on consistency and has his eye on the long game, that track record was a huge draw.

Bringing a New Experience to Camarillo

The new café will be located at Camarillo Premium Outlets, one of Southern California's most visited shopping destinations.

"I am excited to bring The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf to Camarillo Premium Outlets and introduce the brand to both local residents and visitors," Kim said. "Our goal is to provide great products, friendly service, and a welcoming experience for everyone who stops by during their visit."

Kim’s focus on hospitality aligns closely with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf's philosophy of prioritizing destinations where guests can enjoy special experiences.

"Our immediate focus is on building a successful operation at Camarillo Premium Outlets, which is less than four miles away from our Roasting Facility, and delivering an outstanding customer experience," he said. "Looking ahead, we are excited to continue growing with the brand. We believe there is strong potential for the brand in the region and look forward to expanding our footprint while maintaining the quality and service customers expect, including delivery and mobile app ordering to help guests enjoy our beverages however they please.”

Advice for Future Franchisees

Kim said the decision comes down to knowing what kind of business someone wants to build. "I would encourage prospective franchisees to carefully evaluate their goals and choose a brand that aligns with their vision," he said.

For Kim, the brand stands apart because of several key factors. "What stands out about The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is its strong reputation, quality products, loyal customer base, and the assistance provided by the support team," he said. "These factors make it a strong opportunity for long-term growth and success."

As the brand continues expanding across the United States, operators like Kim show how experienced franchise partners are helping support that growth.

"Tae exemplifies the kind of franchise partner we're looking to grow with," said Peter Vavra, Director of Franchise Development for The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. "His experience across multiple restaurant concepts, commitment to hospitality, and long-term vision for growth make him an outstanding addition to our franchise system. We're excited to support him as he opens in Camarillo and explores future opportunities with the brand."
