The Melt has reached another milestone with the opening of its first airport restaurant at San Francisco International Airport's Harvey Milk Terminal 1, according to Fast Casual

The new location, which opened July 8, marks the San Francisco-based brand's 24th restaurant and introduces its premium comfort food to millions of travelers passing through one of the country's busiest airports. The airport restaurant also features exclusive menu offerings, including a Breakfast MeltBurger topped with a fried egg and bacon, as well as the Harvey Milkshake, a handspun vanilla shake with rainbow sprinkles that’s available year-round and supports Equality California through charitable proceeds.

The airport expansion reflects the momentum The Melt has built after more than a decade refining its operating model through company-owned restaurants. Following a strong 2025, during which the brand generated approximately $58.2 million in revenue and posted 4.6% comparable sales growth, The Melt is continuing to expand its corporate footprint while simultaneously launching franchising. The company expects to operate approximately 30 restaurants across California and Arizona by the end of the year, creating additional proof points as it grows nationally.

As part of that expansion, The Melt recently brought on restaurant industry veteran Greg Vojnovic as head of franchising to lead development efforts. Rather than pursuing rapid, indiscriminate growth, the company is focused on partnering with experienced multiunit operators in carefully selected markets. Backed by average annual sales of approximately $3.4 million across mature corporate restaurants, a streamlined operating model and a differentiated menu centered around its signature Angus and Wagyu MeltBurger, The Melt is positioning itself for thoughtful franchise expansion while continuing to strengthen its company-owned restaurant base.
