Threshold Brands Leadership Spotlight: Yona Smith, Director of Franchise Development Marketing
The marketing leader at the multi-brand franchisor talks about her career experience with Threshold Brands and gives a sneak peek of what’s to come for the company.
With over a decade of experience in the franchise industry, Yona Smith, director of franchise development marketing with Threshold Brands, brings invaluable expertise to her role with the 500-unit-plus multi-brand franchisor. Smith, who joined the company in October 2021 after ten-plus years of franchise marketing experience, helps aid the growth team to acquire highly qualified prospective candidates for each of Threshold Brand’s nine brands.
“A few former colleagues approached me about working for Threshold Brands, and told me, ‘We need you. We need someone to help us grow our footprint with new quality candidates,’” said Smith. “The possibilities really excited me, with it being a new multi-brand franchisor and getting in at the ground level and helping to grow with the company from the beginning. I help market the dream of business ownership, and Threshold Brands lives up to that.”
Smith said that in addition to helping entrepreneurs actualize their goals of having their own company, one of her favorite parts of working at Threshold Brands is the collaborative, team-oriented culture within the company. With nine home service companies under the Threshold Brands name and unique support teams for each brand, there are plenty of people to bounce ideas off and inspire each other.
“Having a seat at the table in the decision-making process is really exciting. Because we are young, things are moving and nothing is set in stone. There is great potential for the future, and the freedom to generate new ideas,” said Smith. “I feel my expertise is really valued.”
Before joining the Threshold Brands team, Smith worked for a few other multi-unit franchisors, where she learned to balance the marketing needs of many brands and teams. She initially got her start in franchise development marketing at a small family-run franchise. The time she spent in those positions helped prepare her to bring in more franchise owners to invest in Threshold Brands.
“I look forward to seeing the potential realized with this company and these brands. I love to help people create a future and legacy for themselves by starting and building their own business, which is what many people really want to do, and we aid in making that happen,” said Smith. “The franchise owners are really excited about the growth potential too. As the company grows rapidly, existing franchisees are eager to meet new faces, talk to them and understand what they do. They all want to talk about their businesses and how they are growing.”
