As plant-based proteins continue to gain steam within the fast food space, Tim Hortons has announced it has begun testing Beyond Meat in three breakfast options, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/15/business/tim-hortons-beyond-meat/index.html?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=tim-hortons-tests-beyond-meat-sausage-patty-sandwiches-2709973" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" style="text-decoration-line:none" target="_blank">according to CNN</a>. The Canadian-based franchise will offer the sausage alternative in a breakfast sandwich, a breakfast wrap and in a new vegan sandwich option.

The new items are now available at select Canada restaurants. If the test goes over well, Tim Hortons could expand the menu across its 4,000 Canadian locations by the end of this summer, according to CNN. 

<a href="https://1851franchise.com/beyond-meat-shares-rise-135-in-market-debut-2709858" style="text-decoration-line:none" target="_blank">Beyond Meat went public</a> earlier this month, closing at nearly $80 per share Tuesday. Meanwhile, meatless competitor Impossible has <a href="https://1851franchise.com/impossible-foods-raises-another-300-mill-ion-with-celebrity-investments-2709945" style="text-decoration-line:none" target="_blank">raised another $300 million</a>, and fellow Restaurant Brands International chain <a href="https://1851franchise.com/burger-king-is-taking-the-impossible-whopper-national-2709807" style="text-decoration-line:none" target="_blank">Burger King recently announced</a> it will roll out its Impossible Whopper nationwide.
