Toppers Pizza has partnered with Feeding America for four years now, donating more than $250,000 to the organization. This year they are hosting their biggest philanthropic event yet across all 73 locations, donating $2 to the non-profit for every large carry-out pizza sold on the evening of Monday, February 29th. “Our growth is because of the people around here,” said Carmel Toppers Pizza General Manager Brent Koontz. “So it’s important for us to give back to the community.”
The local effort will benefit the Gleaners Food Bank in Indianapolis, a partner of Feeding American.
The organization and the cause of feeding America's hungry, has always struck a cord with Toppers Founder and President Scott Gittrich.
“Hunger in America is a problem that affects every community,” Gittrich told Current in Carmel. “We are in the pizza business, but we are also in the people business. We help feed hungry people in our communities. Our partnership with Feeding America stemmed from our desire to partner with an organization that shared in the mission to help hunger in America."
Toppers hopes to raise at least $550,000 through the event.
