TruBlue Total House Care, the 80-plus unit home maintenance and handyman franchise specializing in senior home modifications, is continuing to expand in the state of Ohio and 27-year-old Quinn Malone is set to open his location on March 20.

Malone, a Willoughby, Ohio resident, has always been interested in business and helping people. After growing up in Chardon, Ohio, Malone went on to get his bachelor’s degree in Sports Business and then his master's in Sports Administration. After working as Assistant Director of Admissions at Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School and then in sales for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Malone decided it was time to combine his passions for finance and helping others.

When his grandfather’s health began to decline, Malone knew it was time to step in and help out however he could. “My grandfather's health started failing, and he wanted to do everything he could to stay in the house he built. We had to go into his house and make it senior-proof for him. I started wondering how many other people were going through that as well,” Malone explained.

After doing some research, he found that TruBlue aligned with what he wanted to do.

Entering the Franchising World

Before entering the world of franchising, Malone had little knowledge or experience with it. His biggest concern was the amount of support he would receive during training. However, after he began training and speaking to people already in the corporate world, his stress was eased.

“My age is both an advantage and a disadvantage in this industry,” Malone explained. “People can look at me and think I’m too young to have the experience I need. At the same time, they can look at me and think I’m ahead of the game and know how important this can be as people start aging and need help with modifying their homes or adults become busier and prefer to spend time doing things they love most, rather than take care of their homes to-do list.”

When working with TruBlue, franchisees are not left to their own devices but instead are backed by others working with the brand. Through research, Malone discovered how cost-effective and detailed TruBlue is and that was the driving force behind buying the franchise.

Not only was Malone excited to find a brand that aligned with his needs, but he was also excited to find that TruBlue is based in Ohio. “They’re Ohio-based, and I’m in Ohio, too. They’re helping people that want or need to be helped, and helping families spend more family time together without having to worry about taking care of their parent's or grandparent's homes,” said Malone. “I’m super excited to interact with my community in a way I haven’t before. It will also have a positive impact on our community.”

Expectations and Growth Plans

Malone hopes to increase the quality of life for those around him and help those people be able to spend meaningful time with those they care about. It’s not just about the people who are getting older, it’s also about the people who are too busy to maintain their homes. After helping his grandfather, Malone has personal experience with those who want to stay in their home but can’t keep it up.

I want to touch the lives of as many as I can around me by providing an affordable, quality and dedicated service and be a person that they can trust. Right now I have two people working with me and am looking for one or two more.”

Malone’s advice for anyone considering buying a franchise is to find something that they’re passionate about. “Dive into that because with purpose, dedication, drive and ambition, it’s doable. No matter where you are, just take the leap.”

The total investment estimate for a TruBlue Total House Care franchise ranges from $65,050–$91,400. To learn more about franchising with TruBlue, please visit https://trubluefranchise.com/.
