What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?Brandon Wright: I’ve had quite a varied career. I’ve been a mechanic in the Air Force, worked in medical sales, was a certified senior advisor and I have been involved in the senior care industry for over 19 years. When COVID hit, I moved into the restoration and roofing industries, but I knew I eventually wanted to run my own business. With my background in senior care, I knew there was a real need for a handyman service geared toward seniors, so when I connected with the TruBlue team, the opportunity to buy the Fort Collins territory felt like the perfect fit.Becky Wright:&nbsp;Brandon’s always been handy, and I have two degrees in addition to having been a stay-at-home mom for the past nine years, managing our household. It made sense for us to team up on this business.1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you’re in it?Brandon:&nbsp;My advice is simple: don’t reinvent the wheel. If you look at a successful business model and do your research, franchising can be a great way to get into business. Coming from the senior care world, I knew the market was growing, especially with the Baby Boomer generation aging. Franchising allowed me to tap into that need with a proven model.Becky:&nbsp;With franchising, a lot of the infrastructure is already in place — from trademarks and marketing to operations and public relations. Knowing that I’d be working alongside someone like Jeff, who has a great understanding of the business, made me confident that TruBlue was the right choice. Why look at other brands when you have a successful model and someone you trust as a mentor?1851: What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth?Brandon:&nbsp;Our goal is to grow to the point where we can maintain five to six employees. It’s more important to me to build a loyal clientele who trust us for good work than to try and grow too fast. I want this to be my retirement plan, something of real value that we can pass on.Becky:&nbsp;There’s definitely a lot of room for growth around here — the need for these services in Colorado is huge, and we’re excited to be a part of it.1851: What’s the one thing about your story you want us to know?Brandon:&nbsp;In addition to running the business, I’m also a pilot and a licensed insurance agent.
