What do you want us to know?Jean Soong: I’ve been in the construction industry for almost 20 years, working with contractors. I moved to NYC in 2019, and my husband and I opened a home inspection business. We were learning a lot about the buildings here, understanding how issues come up — now we have a team of inspectors and have become a very well-known company serving Brooklyn and Manhattan.In 2022, my father became ill overseas in Taiwan, and I went there to help care for my parents. It has always been about transformation.“I have always wanted to give back,” Campbell said. “I grew up in Missouri in poverty. I joined the Marine Corps and served in two wars. I spent over 20 years and retired as a major with a master’s degree. It wasn’t easy.”After retiring from the military, Campbell moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, where he became a pastor at a small church. Under his leadership, that church grew significantly and eventually built a multi-million-dollar complex. But even as the church expanded, his focus remained the same: serve people who need opportunity.“Since I got here, I’ve always been trying to help people,” he said.That commitment led him beyond ministry and into community development. Campbell built affordable housing for senior citizens using low-income tax credits. He purchased and renovated multifamily properties to lower rent.
