When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March of 2020, industries across the country were hit with the impact of national shutdowns and health-based restrictions. One industry that was hit particularly hard: senior home services. As concerns began to rise around the safety of senior care facilities and other living communities, the demand for at-home senior services began to spike. As a result, TruBlue Total House Care saw impressive growth in markets across the country and, according to Sean Fitzgerald, president of TruBlue, that recent growth is only the beginning.

“As we navigate the senior home services landscape in the future, we’re going to see an increase in telehealth and other monitoring through remote devices. Those remote capabilities have a huge impact on our business; people no longer want to age in nursing homes and so, they need help around the house to remain at home, safely.”

Virtual services present an incredible growth opportunity for TruBlue, and the industry as a whole and are something that the brand is fully prepared to take advantage of.

“I’ve always encouraged utilizing technology within this industry and, with COVID, it sped up the process and forced brands to explore it further,” Fitzgerald said.

TruBlue has recently partnered with other senior-care brands, like The Helper Bees and Right at Home, creating more opportunities for growth and further establishing its brand as the post-pandemic industry leader.

“By collaborating with other providers, we’ve ensured that our franchise owners are capable of responding to virtually any need their clients might have,” Fitzgerald said.

Some of the biggest needs for seniors since the onset of COVID were making homes more accessible, whether by installing handrails and handles or non-slip surfaces and other safety and accessibility products.

The costs of fulfilling those needs are typically covered by insurance and Medicare, allowing TruBlue to provide comprehensive services to clients without breaking their budgets.

Fitzgerald says that while TruBlue is committed to accessibility, that is only one aspect of its mission. Full-service home care treatment, he says, means eliminating or mitigating risks throughout the entire living environment.

“We have solutions for virtually every home environmental concern, and we take the time to engage with our clients to learn exactly what their needs and risks are,” Fitzgerald said. “This is an essential step in the senior care industry, and no matter how much the industry changes, you always need to take care of the individual.”

TruBlue currently has more than 80 locations and is rapidly expanding across the U.S. The company reported an impressive 94 percent year-over-year systemwide revenue increase in 2020, and the brand is also on track to achieve its goal of expanding into 32 new areas by the end of this year.
