When you are looking to invest in a franchise, it is hard to find an opportunity that’s rooted in a stable and recession resistant segment. As the state of the economy fluctuates, businesses see better or worse days. That is why there’s one industry that continues to be a top choice for those looking to launch their own business: education.

From consistent demand to continued growth, there are any number of reasons that make the education segment of the franchising industry one that shouldn’t be overlooked during the due diligence process. However, according to Tutor Doctor President Frank Milner, the reason that education is a great industry to be in starts with the problems that school systems are facing across the globe.

He said, “At its core, the education industry is struggling. That means that our school systems are struggling, and students are struggling. We have class sizes that are continuing to grow and schools that are treating every student the same way. However, the reality is that not every student learns the same way. That is why there are so many students are falling through the cracks, and it is why a lot of them are suffering in silence. As parents, we want our kids to have every opportunity possible so that they can be successful in life. So, the natural next step is to find outside help. That creates a consistent level of demand for our services in all types of communities, ultimately opening the door for us to bring our proven concept everywhere with the help of our franchisees.”

However, students struggling to keep up in the classroom are not the only children who are looking for help. While school systems fail to meet the needs of all its students, those who are performing well and receiving top grades are facing a more competitive landscape than ever before. It is no longer enough to get good grades—students need to stand out across the board if they want to get into their dream school.

“On the other end of the spectrum, there are more and more students competing for fewer spots to get into higher education institutions. It used to be that if you were an A student and did well on your SATs or ACTs, you were all but guaranteed a spot at the college of your choice. However, getting into college—and even high school—is more competitive than ever before. That is why we are tutoring so many A students,” said Milner. “Getting an A is simply not good enough in today’s educational environment. More and more students—and their families—are understanding this, so they are investing in additional education to help give their kids an edge.”

That public need for supplemental education services is what continues to make the industry a strong one. Moreover, by taking a one-on-one approach to personalized, in-home tutoring, Tutor Doctor has solidified its position as the brand to beat in the segment. Backed by a system of more than 550 locations and 300-plus franchisees, the brand is providing a one of a kind service that can’t be found anywhere else.

“Our mission is to change the trajectory of students’ lives. We do not believe that there’s a one size fits all answer in the education industry. Instead, our mission is to work with students one on one to meet them where they are at and utilize their curriculum instead of the common core to truly make a positive impact and change their lives,” Milner said. “That is why the Tutor Doctor model works, and it is why it is such a strong investment opportunity for franchisees across the globe. There’s always going to be a need for supplemental education services, and our individualized approach puts us at the forefront of this consistently strong industry. Plus, we get to help students while doing important, meaningful work. Our franchisees and tutors are not just making a living— they are making a difference.”
