Top executives at Wendy’s are seeing their roles shifted and expanded in a leadership reorganization that will expand the quick-service chain‘s focus on its customers’ digital experience, according to a recent Restaurant Business Online article.  Wendy’s is putting the spotlight on advancing the restaurant experience with customer-facing technology like mobile ordering, self-order kiosks and loyalty rewards.

Initiated by the impending retirement of chief information officer David Trimm early next year, the brand elected to establish a new ‘Digital Experience Organization’ in lieu of naming a replacement. The department will be run by Wendy’s chief concept and marketing officer, Kurt Kane. CFO Gunther Plosch will add enterprise technology oversight to his duties while COO Bob Wright will take on in-store technology and chief development officer Abigail Pringle will become the company’s international business head.

“We feel like we’ve really put ourselves in a good position to differentiate ourselves on technology over time. Our focus on all of this is to go as fast as we can, but to do it in a manner that works with our restaurants and our consumers. This is about connecting with customers and bringing them back more often,” Wendy’s CEO Todd Penegor said.
