There are few hobbies that people of all ages can enjoy as much as bird feeding. Kids and adults can enjoy watching the birds visit the feeder while they learn about the bird species in their area. This universal hobby is what continues to fuel the growth of Wild Birds Unlimited. With five new openings in late February and early March and three existing franchise store owners selling to new owners, the brand is starting off 2018 reaching more bird lovers than ever before.
Chief Development Officer Paul Pickett says the brand's success is no accident. “I think the brand is resonating with so many people because there is a rise in people wanting to connect with people and nature and to something that’s truly important. Our franchisees chose Wild Birds Unlimited because it’s time for them to do what they love. Our brand is about joy and creating community and that resonates with people.”
The new openings will bring extensive bird-feeding knowledge to Santa Monica, CA, Montgomery, AL, Watertown, CT and Collegeville and Havertown, PA. Bird lovers in Fayetteville, AR and Branson, MO will continue to be able to shop at their beloved Wild Birds Unlimited because the franchisees sold their stores to a new franchisee couple, but the old owners plan to stay on as managers to stay close to the brand they have grown to love. Omaha, NE will also benefit from franchise-industry vets looking for a new adventure by purchasing the existing Wild Birds Unlimited in their market.
Each new opening also introduces a new generation to the hobby. With franchisees ranging from their early 30s to late 60s, there’s no age limit to who can find their passion by owning a Wild Birds Unlimited. Franchisees at any stage in their career have turned to Wild Birds Unlimited to find a business enterprise that really means something to them and provides value to their family.
The new members of the franchise are no different. From a former nature educator to a retiree, the new members of the team are thrilled to join such a supportive franchise and bring their passion for nature and outdoors to their communities.
“More and more people want to join a good solid business with solid KPIs, but many new franchisees are also looking to get into an industry they love. The Wild Birds Unlimited franchise opportunity allows our franchise store owners to be creative in engaging customers and community members in the hobby of bird feeding. We’re not selling anything to feel bad about, it’s great for the environment and great for people’s souls,” shared Pickett.
With a reasonable initial investment of $146,516 to $249,956, you can own a Wild Birds Unlimited and have the opportunity to share your passion with bird lovers of all ages. Although, like any business, a tremendous amount of work is needed to be successful, franchisee agree that there is no better way to spend your day.
Pickett shared, “There is no age limit for enjoying nature and sharing your love of birds and bird feeding. Kids love it, young adults love it and it’s a hobby that can last a whole lifetime. I started feeding birds when I was a little boy and I’m still doing it today with the same joy and passion.”
